LLOVERÁN CENIZAS
(Une pluie de cendres)
Drawing-installation, ashes from burnt forest fires (Patagonia in Argentina and Brittany in France), 56 cm round glass plate, stand, flashlight, 2023.
Lloverán cenizas (Une pluie de cendres) brings together two testimonies of ¨mega forest fires¨ through shared memories and ashes from two geographically opposed territories.
It involves two close friends who, a year apart, shared their experiences of – mega forest fires – with me. I became interested in the social impact of these extreme events, which are becoming increasingly frequent and uncontrollable. Both of them lived through these fires in fear of losing their homes. They entrusted me with their stories as well as images. By collecting the ashes from the two disasters, I created a drawing that seeks to make visible the memories of what they went through. Because, in the end, their stories converge, particularly around this striking phenomenon: the rain of ashes.
